Cristina Cambo and Katelyn Ferry submitted a White Paper opposing HB 1551 for the Florida Legislature’s consideration for today’s hearing before the Insurance and Banking Committee. If passed, HB 1551 would establish a system in which “prevailing parties” may be awarded their fees in property insurance lawsuits.

For those unsure of whether this bill is a step in the right direction, ask yourselves this: “How can adding yet another statutory fee provision be the solution to expediting a fair and reasonable claim settlement for policyholders?” The answer is: it cannot.
